What are the responsibilities and job description for the Learning Disabilities Teacher-Consultant position at Delsea Regional High School District?
Scope of Job:
The Learning Disabilities Teacher-Consultant is an educational specialist who makes an assessment and analysis of a child’s learning characteristics, designs instructional strategies and plans educational programs, maintains an active role on a multidisciplinary team, and acts as an educational consultant to classroom teachers.
Qualifications & Responsibilities:
The Learning Disabilities Teacher-Consultant shall:
- Hold a Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university.
- Hold a valid New Jersey educational services certificate in accordance with the requirements of N.J.S.A 18A:27.1 and N.J.A.C Title 6 Chapter 11-11.13.
- Demonstrate knowledge of understanding of child growth and development, learning assessment and diagnosis, the needs and demands of the classroom professional and research related to learning, instructional strategies, and classroom management.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify students with learning disabilities.
- Interpret assessment data to inform individualized education planning (IEP) and instructional strategies.
- Collaborate with teachers and educational staff to develop and implement effective instructional strategies and accommodations for students with LD.
- Design and modify curriculum materials to meet the academic and behavioral needs of students with LD.
- Utilize evidence-based practices and methodologies to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes.
- Review referrals with the Child Study Team for the purpose of determining appropriate steps to be taken in the study process and to determine eligibility for Child Study Team evaluation.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders. Knowledge of current trends and research in LD and special education.
- Provide ongoing consultation to teachers, administrators, and parents on best practices for supporting students with LD.
- Conduct workshops, seminars, and training sessions to enhance the professional competencies of educators in addressing LD.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and monitor IEP goals and accommodations.
