The Senior (Full Stack) Software Development Engineer is responsible for development, operations, and enhancements being built for Delta's cloud journey. As a member of the Crew IT Team, engineer will be involved with engineering, support, and thought leadership as it relates to the platform, automation, and other related activities. This position requires working closely with internal team members, Product Owners, and other supporting IT groups.

Your Responsibilities in this role :

  • Implement automated, containerized cloud application platform solutions, with a focus on application concerns including cloud-ready distributed application architectures, migrating workloads to containers, containerized development workflows, and integrating container platforms with automated CI / CD pipelines
  • Serve as a subject matter expert with the ability to explain and translate relevant details of the OpenShift platform and its constituent components to those less familiar
  • Design and develop cloud applications, features, and enhancements with an emphasis on clean, highly efficient, supportable, and well documented code for the full technology stack
  • Collaborate with the technical teams, business teams, and product managers to ensure that the code that is developed meets their vision
  • Provide efficient solution and deliverables to shorten the project life cycle, where applicable
  • Own the quality of the product delivered by engaging closely in testing activities.
  • Create visual models (flowcharts, class and activity diagrams, sequence diagrams)
  • Fix problems from the development phase through the production phase, which requires being on call for production support
  • Support operationally critical environment, using monitoring tools and scripts, data feeds and associated scripts, research, and analysis of production issues, capturing logging.
  • Provide mentorship to Junior Engineers as needed.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work within the focused team.

  • What you need to succeed (minimum qualifications)

  • Minimum 5 years of Software Development experience
  • Experience in AWS Cloud Technology and application migration to cloud
  • Experience with Red Hat Open Shift
  • Experience in Agile methodologies, DevSecOps, CI / CD pipeline and Build tools (GIT, Maven, Gradle)
  • Experience engineering software within Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud infrastructure
  • Expertise in Java / J2EE framework, design patterns and tools, relational DB (Oracle)
  • Experience in Web application frameworks and API technologies like JQuery, AngularJS, Swagger and Springboot
  • Automation-minded : Hands on experience of writing automated tests for backend applications and data flow, using tools such as Postman, REST Assured, Ready API, etc
  • Experience working with containers, and managed container orchestrators (Kubernetes / OpenShift) in the cloud (For example AWS Elastic Kubernetes Service, Red Hat OpenShift)
  • Experience with Unix shell scripting.
  • Ability to work well with others in a time sensitive and team environment with minimal supervision, be results oriented and capable of meeting deadlines with attention to detail and follow through
  • Strong technical and non-technical communication skills. Assures smooth flowing, timely transmission of critical information
  • Fundamental Awareness of Application Security principles and 12-factor application development principles is required
  • Consistently prioritizes safety and security of self, others, and personal data.
  • Embraces diverse people, thinking, and styles.
  • Possesses a high school diploma, GED, or high school equivalency.
  • Is at least 18 years of age and has authorization to work in the United States.
