What are the responsibilities and job description for the Utah Royals F.C. Team Security Professional position at Delta Center?
JOB SUMMARY:
The Utah Royals F.C. Team Security Professional is responsible for the safety and security of Utah Royals
F.C. players and staff while participating in NWSL and/or team sanctioned matches, events, and related
activities while traveling, at America First Field, and in the greater Salt Lake community.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Team Travel:
o Travel with the team to all road matches during the NWSL pre-season, regular season,
and post-season NWSL Playoffs as well as any off-season trips as needed.
o Ensure the safety and security of players, staff, and company property while traveling.
o Assist with travel requirements to and from destinations.
o Ensure members of the traveling party are on the airplane and bus at the scheduled time
and that no personal items are left behind.
o Assist the equipment manager with monitoring all luggage and equipment until it is
stored and/or delivered to player and staff rooms upon arrival at the hotel.
o Coordinate with each road venue and team personnel regarding security and emergency
response procedures as well as any concerns.
o Establish and manage a working relationship with hotel security.
o Provide security at team-related soccer events as needed.
NWSL Security:
o Develop and maintain a working relationship with MLS & NWSL security representatives
and all other applicable personnel.
o Facilitate regular communication to maintain awareness and mitigate any current
security concerns or issues.
o Participate in conference calls with MLS & NWSL Security.
o Attend the annual MLS/NWSL League Conference.
Home and Away Match Security:
o Develop and maintain a working relationship with stadium security directors and all
other security personnel.
o Ensure security measures for arrival and departure of players, their families, and vehicles
are adequate.
o Attend the NWSL security briefing prior to the start of all matches.
o Monitor activity and communication between the fans and players around the bench.
o Assist referees on the pitch with player altercations and VAR review as needed.
o Escort players and coaches ejected from the match to the locker room.
Other Security/Intelligence:
o Provide security for player appearances scheduled by the organization as necessary.
o Attend events hosted by players for security purposes on request.
o Provide guidance on appropriate security measures to anyone hosting players for events,
appearances, etc.
o Assist players, coaches, and staff with cyber security issues or threats.
o Investigate and report any relevant or unusual situations that develop.
Compliance/Player Support:
o Assist players in complying with all state and federal laws, and NWSL guidelines relating
to firearms, driver license, and motor vehicle registration.
o Conduct security surveys for player residences on request.
o Assist player development representative with off-the-pitch training.
o Attend scheduled player development meetings and conferences.
Communication/Relationships:
o Help players and coaches understand your role.
o Manage communication and develop working relationships with federal, state, and local
law enforcement, and MLS & NWSL officials.
o Establish working relationships with management and security personnel of venues
frequented by players.
Administration:
o Communicate regularly with the General Manager, Head Coach, and President of Utah
Royals F.C.
o Develop and implement security plans as needed.
o Protect the legal, financial, and moral well-being of the company.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- Law enforcement, military, or executive protection training and experience.

- Ability to interact with coaches, players, and other staff and persuade various personality types required.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently without supervision, taking initiative when necessary.
- Ability to take direction and follow-up.

- Strong teamwork and team synergy skills required.
- Excellent ability to establish rapport with others and build strong interpersonal relationships.

- Available and willing to travel extensively, work extended hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Willing to work a flexible schedule.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Position will be required to stand and be on foot for prolonged periods of time.
- Occasional lifting of heavier objects up to 35 lbs. necessary when setting up and breaking down.
- This person must be able to communicate and express themselves both written and verbally
- This person must be able to observe, inspect, estimate, and assess
- This person must be able to sit, stand, bend, walk, and climb stairs for long periods of time
