The Title Specialist delivers superior service while meeting the titling needs of Delta Community Credit Union's consumer loan portfolio. The Title Specialist is responsible for securing all consumer titles and liens for the credit union while ensuring compliance and member service standards are met. Role responsibilities include researching and resolving complex consumer title issues and escalations, and managing the daily exception reports to ensure the credit union's interest in all collateralized loan types is protected. The Title Specialist proactively communicates with members, the DMV / State department, and various dealers as needed to limit unperfected lien volume and mitigate risk. The Title Specialist is a very fast paced, detail orientated, customer focused position.
Essential Functions :
- Demonstrate the ability to independently problem solve and find solutions to complex and / or escalated title issues.
- Responsible for compliance, security and safety of member loan information and collateral lien records.
- Manage portfolio quality, ensure regulatory compliance, manage collateralization, and support securitization requirements. Stay abreast of county, state, and federal title, lien, and bankruptcy laws, regulations, and guidelines.
- Routinely perform analysis, evaluation and decisioning of operational exceptions while mitigating risk to the credit union. S / he will review and conduct research on complex title issues and provide a well-decisioned resolution that requires little to no leadership oversight or direction.
- Responsible for extensive and complex communication with members, dealers, financial institutions, vendor / partners, and motor vehicle departments for problem resolution for pending titles and research items.
- Handle multiple exception reports and provide high-level subject matter expertise and assistance to the Branches, Member Care, and other departments.
- Responsible for monitoring and logging title documentation received from members and third parties, while ensuring missing documentation is acquired for lien filing within the designated timeframe of statutes for lien perfection.
- Responsible for account and / or loan fraud detection and mitigation to prevent loss.
- Remain compliant with policies, processes and legal guidelines, including but not limited to the Bank Secrecy Act, Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) and Fair Debt Collection Practice Act (FDCPA).
- Additional projects and assignments to support departmental initiatives, as needed.
