Concrete Finisher

Essential Job Functions:

• Responsible for setting concrete forms for; footings, walls, piers, curbs, steps and slabs
• Rebar cutting, bending, layout and tying lines
• Use of finishing tools to include, but not limited to; both mechanical and manual screen systems, bull floats, fresnos, power trowels, hand floats, steel trowels, edger’s, and brooms
• Responsible for achieving the following finishes; flat and level footings and walls, hard trowel (interior smooth finish) and broom finish (exterior).
• Safely operate power tools such as; Skill saw, grinder, rotary hammer, and power chisels
• Attends training sessions, seminars and appropriate educational classes required by department.
• Other duties as assigned

Required Minimum Qualifications:

• Work Experience: One (1) year experience of civil concrete work
• License/Certifications:
  • Current OSHA 10 and Hydrogen Sulfide (H2S) certificates or be able to obtain upon hire
  • Current and valid driver’s license, with clean driving record

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

• Knowledge and understanding of concrete placement in all weather conditions
• Knowledge of general carpentry
• Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction or repair of concrete structures
• Knowledge of design, principles and technical plans such as blueprints, drawings and models
• Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, and their applications commensurate to the job
• Knowledge of Hazardous Materials and Safety Regulations and industry practices related to materials and equipment use and operation
• Active listening skills
• Strong organizational skills
• Ability to read and understand blueprints
• Ability to use time efficiently in order to complete projects/assignments on time
• Ability to communicate effectively in a team environment
• Ability to handle stress and possess positive attitude even in difficult or challenging situations
