What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mechanical Superintendent position at Delta Constructors?
The Mechanical Superintendent provides leadership to all Mechanical team members, ensuring product and service delivery meets specifications and deadlines. The incumbent also ensures that all work is done in compliance with standard Mechanical practices, federal and state regulations and in compliance with employer’s safety policies & procedures.
Essential Job Functions:- Responsible for ensuring safe and successful execution of construction activities in their area
- Schedules work activities and manpower requirements to meet established completion dates.
- Manages teams through the execution phase, providing a focus on safety, quality, cost, and schedule
- Provides safety monitoring / leadership
- Interfaces with QA/QC personnel to address quality issues / progress
- Provides oversight of contractor's materials management / verification systems
- Ensures compliance with specifications, procedures, and plans
- Monitors workforce productivities / progress relative to schedule
- Monitors environmental compliance, as required
- Interfaces with contractors, vendors, and Client for field level changes, e.g., scope, costs, etc.
- Controls change/scope creep, ensuring that all scope changes are quickly and properly documented, and that change orders are approved prior to the performance of work.
- Verifies post-site arrival of procured equipment and engineering equipment
- Serves as liaison with Client
- Supervises the mechanical completion phase and transition to the final hookup and commissioning phase
- Manages all punch list items outstanding
- Coordinates construction foremen
- Coordinates quality audits
- Oversee installation, hook-up, and turnover of mechanical equipment scope
- Includes stewarding preservation, vendor coordination/interface, construction planning, package walk downs, mechanical equipment package troubleshooting, rotating equipment, mechanical equipment, static/dynamic commissioning experience
- Attends training sessions, seminars and appropriate educational classes required by department.
- Other duties as assigned
Required Minimum Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, or Construction Management preferred.
- Work Experience: Three (3) years supervisory experience. Eight (8) to ten (10) years’ experience in the oil & gas or energy industries preferred.
- Take and pass a pre-employment drug test
- Alaska North Slope locations only: Take and pass a Fit-for-Duty Examination
- Knowledgeable and experienced in oilfield operations
- Must be proficient with hand and power tools as well as heavy equipment
- Experience in scheduling crews and managing daily customer deliverables
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Ability and willingness, to receive and follow direction.
- Ability to clearly communicate (both verbal and written).
- Ability to work safely and recognize potential hazards.
- Ability to legally operate a motor vehicle (within the requirements of our insurance carrier).
- Demonstrated ability in supervising and leading others
- Ability to set and balance priorities in order to complete projects on time
- Ability to and experience with piping, structural and other labor crafts in an industrial oilfield setting
- Computer skills commensurate with program and job applications.
