Support Washington Dental Service as a Human Resources Operations Intern and gain hands-on experience, learning the fundamentals of Human Resources while contributing to real projects and developing professional skills in a dynamic, collaborative environment.

This non-exempt internship pays an hourly rate of $28.00 and is full-time (40 hours per week). Interns are expected to work during our standard business hours, which are from 8 AM to 5 PM, Monday through Friday. Interns are typically required to work onsite at our Seattle office every Tuesday, with the option for remote work on other days based on departmental needs.

  • Manage the HR Operations inbox and incoming mail, responding to employee inquiries on Tier 1 policies, benefits, and HR questions while ensuring documents are properly filed or routed.
  • Own the creation of the HR process documentation portfolio, ensuring workflows, policies, and procedures are clearly documented and easily accessible.
  • Help update employee records and HR databases.
  • Assist in creating and updating templates, response scripts, resources, and standard operating procedures to improve processes.
  • Support the onboarding process by preparing paperwork, coordinating schedules, and maintaining the onboarding system to ensure a smooth and efficient experience for new hires.
  • Help design and document onboarding workflows, including system access setup, permissions, and process automation.

Experience, Skills, and Education Needed for Success in the Internship Position: The following requirements represent the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to successfully perform the essential functions of this internship.

  • Currently pursuing an associate, bachelors, or master’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, Communications, Psychology, Sociology, Anthropology, or similar field
  • Strong interest in Human Resources with a desire to grow in the field.
  • Eager to explore processes, ask questions, and understand the reasoning behind HR policies and systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Displays a high level of accountability by effectively managing tasks independently, meeting goals, and delivering high-quality work while staying dedicated to team objectives.
  • Ability to collect relevant information, assess data, and make thoughtful contributions to projects or problem-solving activities.
  • Enthusiastic about collaborating with diverse teams, contributing to an inclusive environment, and seeking opportunities for growth and improvement within the internship and organization.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships across teams.
  • Capable of working both independently and collaboratively in team settings.
