- Note, for candidates in the “Designer” role without FE/PE licensing would be the lower end of the pay range ($75-105k), while candidates qualifying for an “Engineer” role would be towards the upper end of the pay range ($90-125k)
We are seeking a dynamic mid-level Mechanical Designer or Engineer to join our team. This role is vital in driving our project success across a range of sectors, including multifamily, affordable housing, commercial office, tenant improvements, hospitality, and other market sector projects. You will be responsible for leveraging your expertise in mechanical and HVAC design to create effective and sustainable solutions, with a focus on integrating energy-efficient designs and ensuring compliance with local codes and policies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead mechanical design for various project types and deliver projects across multiple delivery models, including: design/bid/build, design assist, and design build.
- Design of HVAC systems including load calculations, equipment sizing/selection, and layout.
- Communicate mechanical system pluses/deltas to clients and stakeholders in presentation format.
- Develop project specifications and perform site evaluations.
- Attend meetings with clients and project teams.
- Develop contract drawings from Schematics through Construction Documents.
- Establishing design standards and criteria for projects, preparing calculations, reports, and specifications
- Proactively enhance technical quality by staying updated with emerging technologies, evolving building codes, and advancements in the industry.
- Collaborate in a multidisciplinary environment to produce integrated project documents, ensuring cohesive design strategies and solutions.
- Engage in the development of tools and templates.
- Contribute to the growth of the mechanical studio.
- Manage projects efficiently, ensuring timely delivery, quality standards, and adherence to quality control processes.
- Proven ability in:
- Communication, project management, and quality control skills.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently in a startup environment.
- Client relationship skills.
- Minimum: 2-5 years' experience in mechanical engineering within the construction industry
- Proficient in Revit, Bluebeam, and the Microsoft Office products
- 2-5 years' experience modeling systems & compiling construction documents in Revit
- Minimum of 2-5 years' experience with Seattle and WA building codes
- Must be located within the Seattle area to support in person meetings as needed (Hybrid once physical office has been identified)
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or similar related field of study, or equivalent work experience.
- FE/EIT or PE license is preferred.
- LEED AP is preferred.
