This position will be responsible for providing hands on technical support, for the injection molding functions and processing including auxiliary equipment and advanced troubleshooting of mold issues. Will be responsible for helping with CI efforts within the plant and internal communications between Molding/Tooling.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop scientifically based processes and generate documentation (Production Books) to ensure consistency of quality and efficiency via established process specifications.
- Drive molding process improvements to include cycle time efficiencies, cavitation, scrap reduction, and establishment of optimal processing parameters
- Be able to help train, develop and performance feedback on Mold Technicians.
- Find problems or issues that are running in production and document them so we can address them at the end of the run and before the next production run. This requires communication between Maintenance and Tooling
- Perform at a continually higher level and correct issues that less qualified employees do not fix.
- Investigate and resolve defects, working with maintenance and quality teams to address root causes.
- Assist in new production setups, ensuring processes align with company quality and safety standards.
- Support process improvement, reduction of downtime, cost reduction, and corrective action teams.
- Assist in the set-up, repair, and troubleshooting of Injection Molding equipment.
- Help implement preventative measures to reduce downtime and improve equipment reliability.
- Support Company Safety, Quality, and Productivity goals
- Any other duties that fall into scope and are not a safety risk as prescribed by your supervisor.
- Must have injection molding process experience with the ability to troubleshoot effectively.
- Must have the ability to read and understand part drawings and dimensional layouts.
- Familiar with Hot Runner Designs (Husky, Incoe, Full Hot, Semi Hot, Valve Gate Technology,) Familiar with unscrewing molds.
- Strong math skills and ability to calculate averages, ratios, percents and tolerances.
- Strong interpersonal skills with ability to effectively interact with people.
- Ability to develop advanced job instructions and standard work.
- Must be able to communicate effectively (written and verbal).
- Must be self-motivated and can interpret data for corrective actions.
- Strong aptitude to effectively train others and be trained to continue Growth in Field.
- Flexible work schedule (including overtime and weekends)
- Proficiency with MS office (word, Excel), e-mail and internet research.
- Must be able to multi-task in a fast-paced production environment.
- working knowledge of plastics injection molding machine operation, instrumentation, process controls.
- 5 years related experience in Injection Molding Process Technician
- Strong leadership skills
- High school diploma or GED
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Industrial, or Plastics Engineering
- 2 years’ experience in Injection Molding Process Engineer
- Knowledge of tooling functionality and plastic materials.
