What are the responsibilities and job description for the Environmental Services Linen Supervisor position at Delta Health?
Gathers, sorts, washes, dries, folds and maintains all hospital laundry. Including, bedding, rest room items, patient gowns, cloth masks, patient room curtains, cleaning rags and mops.
Position Responsibilities:
- Understands and follows directions.
- Picks up soiled linen safely and as scheduled and properly sorts linen by category and stains.
- Weighs linen and properly documents weight by department.
- Safely handles infectious linen according to policies & procedures.
- Operates washers and dryers properly while handling wet and dry linen safely.
- Inspects and handles chemicals safely.
- Identifies and treats spots properly.
- Demonstrates ability to properly process clean linen.
- Identifies linen as to type and dries it properly with correct drying temperatures.
- Prevents contamination of clean linen by wearing a hair containment device, washing hands, wearing clean clothes and preventing clean linen dropping on the floor.
- Properly folds linen and stocks linen according to par levels while inspecting for quality control.
- Completes linen stocking in a timely manner to prevent shortages, not overstocking, and keeping stocked area cleaned.
- Reports washer, dryer, and safety concerns immediately via maintenance work order.
- Fill Housekeeping position during staff shortages.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Plans, assigns, coordinates, inspects and reviews daily EVS/Linen Tech performance. Ensures department standards are met.
- Educates staff on current policies, procedures and operational standards. Conducts documented training sessions on safety and operational procedures. Informs staff of problem areas. Disseminates pertinent information, prepares and conducts performance reports to department leadership in a timely manner.
- Trains all new Linen staff to perform all tasks as outlined in their job descriptions. Under guidance, coaches staff by recognizing good performance and counseling them where improvement is needed.
- Training of proper use of equipment and safe operation techniques
- Personal safety and lifting techniques
- Ensures adequate staffing to meet facility needs at all times.
Required Education & Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of one year experience in commercial laundry preferred.
- Previous supervisory experience in cleaning environment preferred
- Must have excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
