Job Summary
We are a ministry-based, nonprofit Christian camp and conference center, open year-round. After a probationary period, this part-time job will gradually expand to full-time as our current Business Manager prepares to retire. Hourly rate will be based on experience. We are seeking a detail-oriented Bookkeeper experienced with QuickBooks Online software to manage our financial records and ensure the accuracy of our accounting processes. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of bookkeeping, including general ledger accounting, account reconciliation, and journal entries. This role requires a strong understanding of financial software and the ability to work independently while maintaining a high level of accuracy. Our office is open weekdays but during our summer season the Bookkeeper will have to work additional hours on some weekends. Other responsibilities of the full-time Bookkeeper include managing office volunteers and employees during the summer season and communicating clearly with cottagers who own small cabins on the grounds.
Duties
- Maintain and manage the general ledger, ensuring all entries are accurate and up-to-date.
- Perform account reconciliations to ensure discrepancies are identified and resolved promptly.
- Prepare and post journal entries as necessary to reflect financial transactions accurately.
- Oversee accounts receivable processes, including invoicing and collections.
- Assist in budgeting processes by providing accurate financial data and insights.
- Utilize financial software, such as QuickBooks Online, to manage financial records efficiently.
- Collaborate with public accounting firms during audits or tax preparation as needed.
- Maintain organized records of all financial transactions for easy retrieval and reference.
Skills
- Proficient in general ledger accounting principles and practices.
- Strong 10 key typing skills for efficient data entry.
- Experience with account reconciliation techniques.
- Knowledge of journal entry preparation and posting procedures.
- Familiarity with public accounting practices is a plus.
- Solid understanding of accounts receivable management.
- Budgeting skills to assist in financial planning processes.
- Proficiency in using QuickBooks Online for bookkeeping tasks.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail to ensure accuracy in all reports and records.
