Position: Automotive Career and Technical Education Instructor
Contract Type: Professional
Location/Building: Career Tech Center-Delta County Center
Closing Date: Until filled
Responsible To: CTE Director
Starting Date: August 4, 2025
Salary and Length of Contract Year: 183 days a year, in accordance with the Master Agreement
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of 4000 hours of recent experience in an occupation related to areas of instruction and eligible for Michigan certification.
- Must hold the following valid ASE Certifications
- ASE Master Automobile Technician
- ASE MLR Technician certifications
- Automatic Transmission
- Manual Drivetrain and Axles
- Suspension and Steering
- Brakes
- Electrical/Electronic Systems
- Heating and Air Conditioning
- Engine Performance
- Bachelor’s Degree or eligible for annual career authorization.
- Eligibility for annual career authorization is 4000 hours of recent and relevant experience within the last 5 years
- Candidates without a bachelor's degree must obtain one within 10 years of hire date.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for teaching the program course objectives as established by the State Department of Career and Technical Education and those established by Delta-Schoolcraft Intermediate School District, including employability skills.
- Develop and maintain a course description, course outline, and task sheet based on course objectives and industry trends.
- Utilize instructional materials and teach performance/project-based instruction, provide standards/competency-based instruction.
- Record student’s progress on task sheets as necessary for grading and placement purposes.
- Prepare students for employment and higher education.
- Maintain a thorough knowledge of business and industry and recommend modification of program objectives where appropriate.
- Provide leadership and participate in youth organizations.
- Involve business and industry in programming through effective use of advisory committees and other activities such as guest speakers and field trips.
- Design the instructional program so that a variety of learning styles can be incorporated into the program and align with ASE accreditation.
- Develop and deliver units on employability skills.
- Maintain accurate attendance and call parents when necessary.
- Develop and deliver units on related Math, English, and Science.
- Develop promotional materials for student recruitment and enrollment.
- Maintain discipline and appropriate records, including communication with parents.
- Participate in activities related to curriculum improvement, including clustering and restructuring and the development of materials and attending workshops.
- Articulate program with pre-vocational and post-secondary levels.
- Assist work based learning coordinator in placing students.
- Attend scheduled administrative/staff meetings.
- Ability to maintain ASE Certification/Accreditation.
- Assume other duties/responsibilities as assigned by the administration.
