J2 – Special Security Technician

Delta Solutions and Strategies is seeking a highly skilled and motivated candidates to join a high-performance team to support US Space Command (USSPACECOM) J2 as a Special Security Technician.  SSTs assist with and perform the day-to-day management and implementation of USSPACECOM’s SCI security program for subordinate SCI Facilities (SCIFs).  USSPACECOM Security and the supporting SSTs are not responsible for installation-level security or overall security at a stand-alone military facility.  This role focuses on monitoring SCIFs to ensure adherence to Security policies and procedures, supporting visitor access and escorting functions, and helping USSPACECOM write and publish policies and procedures. 

An active TS/SCI is required for these positions.

• Performing escort duties for uncleared and emergency personnel. Maintaining facility visitor logs, providing security briefings, and inspecting hand-carried items before entry and maintaining positive control and surveillance of uncleared personnel while in the SCIFs or collateral spaces.
• Conducting visitor control, processing visitor clearances, maintaining the SCI visitor control databases and logs, and issuing appropriate SCIF badges required for access.
• Working day or swing shift based on a schedule published by Security.  Hours are expected to be 0600-1500 and 1500-2200 with some flexibility needed to ensure timely opening/closing of the SCIF at the start and end of the day.
• Assisting Security in maintaining the integrity and protection of highly sensitive information and programs.
• Actively monitoring Closed Circuit Television on a periodic basis (every hour for 20-30 minutes in duration) and performing CCTV testing.
• Conducting visitor control, processing visitor clearances, maintaining the SCI visitor control databases and logs, and issuing appropriate SCIF badges required for access.
• Conducting unannounced SCIF compliance inspections and recording results
• Assisting with writing and executing standard operating procedures for Security.
• Once the response force has determined an area is safe/secure, responding to alarm activations to attempt to determine the probable cause of the alarm activation, and resetting the Intrusion Detection System (IDS).
• Perform semi-annual alarm response force testing.
• Conduct quarterly acoustic testing to ensure SCIF areas comply with Sound Transmission Class (STC) 45 or 50 standards. 
• Training provided to all SSTs by USSPACECOM: SCIF Open/Close procedures, SCIF Alarm Response, SCIF SOPs and Emergency Action Procedures

• Knowledge and experience implementing standard SCI Facility security processes and procedures per ICD 704 (Personnel Security).
• Ability to analyze situations and make well informed recommendations.
• Excellent communicator and effective team member.
• Excellent customer service skills – polite, helpful, patient – with good writing and oral presentation skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and Security discipline
• Bachelor’s Degree or 5 years of relevant Security experience in lieu of degree.
• Major Command, Field Command, or Combatant Command experience.
• TS/SCI clearance required

In compliance with Colorado’s Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the salary range for this position is $70,000-$90,000. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only.
