JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE
Delta Utilities is seeking a Director of Public Affairs to manage the company's political advocacy efforts and strengthen its relationships with local communities. This position will also oversee the company’s ESG strategy and manage its philanthropic foundation. This is a full-time position based in New Orleans, Louisiana.
This role is responsible for overseeing PAC operations, ensuring regulatory compliance, and engaging with political stakeholders to promote the company’s interests. Additionally, this role will lead community engagement initiatives, fostering strong relationships with local organizations, civic groups, and community leaders. The ideal candidate possesses experience in advocacy, community relations, and understanding of regulatory environments.
JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
• Manage the development and execution of Delta Utilities’ ESG strategy, ensuring alignment with business objectives, industry trends, and stakeholder expectations; compliance with reporting frameworks regulatory requirements; and the preparation and submission of ESG reports
• Build relationships with local communities and lead initiatives that enhance Delta Utilities’ reputation as a responsible corporate citizen
• Serve as the primary point of contact for ESG-related inquiries from investors, rating agencies, regulators, and other stakeholders
• Implement company-wide initiatives focused on reducing environmental impact, enhancing social responsibility, and improving governance practices
• Assist in leading the strategic direction of Delta Utilities' political action committee, ensuring alignment with the company’s legislative priorities and business objectives
• Manage the solicitation of voluntary contributions from eligible employees and stakeholders to support the PAC; develop fundraising campaigns and engagement strategies to grow PAC membership
• Ensure the PAC complies with all federal, state, and local campaign finance laws, including timely filing of reports and maintaining records of contributions and expenditures
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Minimum education required of the position
• A bachelor’s degree in environmental science, sustainability, business administration, public affairs, or a related field
Minimum experience required of the position
• Minimum of five to seven years of experience in ESG, corporate social responsibility (CSR), sustainability, or foundation management
• Minimum of three or more years of experience in political advocacy, PAC management, government affairs, or community relations
Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities preferred of the position
• Experience working within the utilities, energy, or regulatory industries
• Experience working with nonprofit organizations
• Familiarity with Louisiana or regional political and community landscapes
• Established relationships with local political leaders, community organizations, and civic groups
• Professional and organizational skills to engage executive leadership and governmental organizations
• Comfortability with public speaking
• Experience with community outreach or customer service; appreciation for community resources
