JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE
Delta Utilities is seeking a highly skilled, detail oriented, and experienced Financial Planning & Analysis Senior Analyst to be responsible for forecasting, to ensure financial health and regulatory compliance. This is a full-time position based in New Orleans, Louisiana.
The ideal candidate will have previous experience in financial modeling within a regulated utilities environment and a comprehensive understanding of the regulatory and rate-making process. This role involves collaboration with cross-functional teams to support strategic financial planning and decision-making and requires a strong analytical mind and excellent communications skills. The ideal candidate will also be familiar with financial statements prepared in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and regulatory accounting principles to develop and build various modeling scenarios.
JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
· Prepare financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
· Develop, maintain, and refine complex financial models to support strategic decision-making within the regulated utilities sector, while working closely with cross functional teams, including operations and regulatory affairs.
· Create detailed financial forecasts with various scenarios and models to aid in long-term financial planning.
· Identify opportunities to improve financial processes and implement best practices to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
· Conduct in-depth financial analysis to identify trends, risks, and opportunities, to support strategic initiatives and decisions.
· Continuously evaluate and improve forecasting processes, tools, and methodologies to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
· Ensure financial activities comply with relevant regulations, accounting standards, and internal policies.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Minimum education required of the position
· A bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, or a related field is required; a combination of experience and education that clearly demonstrates comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities may be suitable.
Minimum experience required of the position
· At least five years of experience in budgeting & forecasting within the utilities sector preferred.
Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities preferred of the position
· Strong understanding of relevant requirements and reporting, the regulatory/rate-making process, and its impact on financial planning and reporting preferred.
· Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with keen attention to detail and accuracy.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex financial information clearly and concisely.
· Proficiency in Excel, including advanced functions, pivot tables, and complex formulas.
· Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment, as well as independently.
· Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
· Familiarity with financial planning and modeling software, ERP system, Oracle, and data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau), and Extract Transform Load (ETL) processes is preferred.
Any certificates, licenses, etc. preferred for the position
· Relevant certifications, such as Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Corporate Financial Planning & Analysis Professional (FPAC).
