What are the responsibilities and job description for the Paratransit Driver position at Delta V Management, LLC?
As a Paratransit Driver, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and timely transportation of patients to and from medical facilities who may or may not use a wheelchair or wheelchair like device (i.e.; powerchair, three wheeled scooter, transport chair, etc.). You will be responsible for driving patients to their appointments, ensuring their comfort and safety during the journey. Additionally, you will be required to maintain accurate records of patient pick-up and drop-off times, odometer, and signature, as well as any other relevant information. Your role will be critical in ensuring that patients receive the care they need in a timely and efficient manner.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Valid driver's license
- Be at least 18 years old with 2 years of driving experience
- Pass pre-hire work physical and passing TB test within 30 days of hire
- Pass pre-hire alcohol and drug test
- Pass pre-hire background check (FBI/BCI)
- Clean driving record with no more than 4 points
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to assist (NOT LIFT) patients as needed providing door-to-door service
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a similar role
- First Aid and CPR certification
- Knowledge of basic vehicle maintenance
Responsibilities:
- Transport patients to and from medical (and occasionally non-medical) appointments in a safe and timely manner
- Ensure patient comfort and safety during transportation
- Maintain accurate records of patient pick-up and drop-off times and odometer readings
- Communicate effectively with medical staff and patients as well as dispatch team
- Perform routine vehicle maintenance checks daily
- Transport all patients without discrimination
- Perform transportation as instructed via the scheduled time and place located on the work tablet and routing system
- Report all incidents and accidents, immediately, to the ReliaRide Driver Manager
- Execute wheelchair tie-downs using in-vehicle restraint system using 4 points of contact and the use of a three-point seatbelt on all clients
- Manuever clients in wheelchairs to and from vehicle and into/out of the vehicle. Matriculate up and down one stair if necessary, but no more than one stair
- Identify safety risks of wheelchairs (broken brakes, broken wheels) and report to client and supervisor if safety risks pose a liability risk for travel
- All other duties as assigned by the superior staff members
Skills:
As a Paratransit Driver, you will need to have excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with patients and medical staff. Additionally, you should have a clean driving record and be able to perform routine vehicle maintenance checks. Finally, having First Aid and CPR certification would be beneficial in case of emergencies. Overall, your role will be critical in ensuring that patients receive the care they need in a safe and timely manner.
Operating Hours: 6 AM - 6 PM, Monday - Saturday
Employee Hours: Vary between daily operating hours
Employee hours vary during operating day based on volumetric nature of business. Average driver day is approximately 9 - 9.5 hours from clock in to clock out.
