Job Summary:
The Aircraft Designer I is essential in designing certified and experimental aircraft installations, focusing on components like cowlings, ducting, exhausts, and engine mounts. They will work closely with integration engineers to develop practical solutions that can be applied to all installation packages.
In addition, the designer will concentrate on refining the aesthetic of engine cowlings to achieve an elegant design while collaborating with integration engineers to enhance aircraft performance, maintaining the Deltahawk signature style.
The Designer is also responsible for organizing and maintaining engineering drawings following established control procedures. Additionally, they may support the Technical Publications Department by converting CAD models into technical documents and assisting with the creation of work instructions.

- Design and edit parts and assemblies from 3D CAD models
- Apply correct datum structures utilizing GD&T and inspection criteria to produce part definitions that meet engineering specifications yet are real-world “manufacturable”.
- Create drawings including layout and detailing of parts and assemblies using 2D and 3D CAD company tools.
- Maintain engineering documentation utilizing established engineering change management and drawing control procedures.
- Create and maintain technical documentation including bill of materials, maintenance specs, etc. per applicable procedures.
- Participates in project team meetings, as applicable.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned by Senior CAD Designer or Engineers.
Required:
- Interest and capabiliy of learning advanced modeling techniques such as surfacing, producing renderings of airframes.
- Associate degree or equivalent in CAD Design or Engineering Technology.
- Experience with SolidWorks or similar 3D CAD modeling program.
- Some GD&T knowledge, preferably with engine parts.
- Experience with and understanding machining procedures, capabilities, fixtures and tooling.
- Aviation interests.
- Surface modeling experience.
- Aircraft design experience.
