What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Business Development position at Delve?
Are you a powerhouse networker with deep roots in highly technical product design and development (i.e medical, building materials, wearables, etc.)? Do you thrive on building relationships, uncovering opportunities, and driving growth in a fast-moving, innovation-driven space? If your contact list is packed with industry leaders and decision-makers in the highly technical product development space, and you know how to turn conversations into partnerships, we want to talk to you.
We are a leading product design and engineering company and we’re looking for a Business Development Director for the Mid-Atlantic region. In this role, you’ll be the bridge between our world-class design and engineering teams and the companies shaping the future of health and beyond. If you love the thrill of the hunt, the satisfaction of a closed deal, and the impact of creating products that truly make a difference, this is your stage.
Responsibilities
- Identify and Pursue New Business Opportunities: Develop a robust pipeline of new business prospects and proactively engage with potential clients to uncover opportunities for our services.
- Expand Relationships Within Existing Clients: Leverage existing client relationships to identify new business units and key decision-makers, creating opportunities to sell additional services and solutions within the client organization.
- Lead Sales Efforts: Own the sales process from prospecting to closing deals, including conducting market research, identifying client needs, developing proposals, and negotiating contracts.
- Strategic Account Planning: Create and implement strategic plans to achieve sales targets and expand market presence, both with new prospects and within existing accounts.
- Market Intelligence: Stay informed on industry trends, competitive landscape, and client needs to provide strategic insights and adjust sales strategies accordingly.
- Collaborate Across Teams: Work closely with internal teams, including marketing, product development, and project management, to ensure alignment and successful delivery of client projects.
- Represent our company: Act as a key spokesperson for our company at industry events, conferences, and client meetings to promote our capabilities and establish thought leadership.
Requirements
- Proven track record of success in business development roles within highly technical product design and development studios.
- An existing, robust rolodex of client-side contacts in relevant fields and experience in building relationships at the business decision maker level.
- Experience in managing and expanding existing client relationships to engage new business units and buyers.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Ability to think strategically and execute tactically. While you will certainly have support throughout the company, this is a roll up your sleeves position.
- Self-motivated with a results-driven mindset and the ability to work independently.
