Job Overview
We are seeking a Senior Water/Wastewater Engineer to join our growing Water Resources Team. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical leadership and expertise in water and wastewater infrastructure projects. This role involves leading the design and management of water and wastewater systems, including water treatment plants, distribution systems, wastewater treatment facilities, collection systems, and stormwater systems. The position will also involve mentoring junior engineers and ensuring projects are completed to the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership and support on water and wastewater projects in the public and private sectors, including water treatment plants, distribution systems, wastewater systems, and pumping stations.
- Conduct research, planning, concept development, and design of water and wastewater infrastructure projects. This includes creating construction documents, specifications, and overseeing construction oversight/administration.
- Guide and mentor junior engineers, ensuring quality and adherence to industry standards for design, safety, and functionality.
- Manage project activities, including budget management, deliverables, schedules, and quality control for water and wastewater-related projects.
- Represent the firm at meetings, conferences, and client engagements, ensuring alignment with client needs and project goals.
- Provide innovative solutions to design challenges and problems, ensuring the successful completion of water and wastewater projects.
- Develop and maintain relationships with clients, contractors, and sub-consultants to foster business growth and promote the firm’s technical excellence.
- Assist in client development activities, including preparing technical proposals, concepts, and presentations.
- Collaborate in the management and growth of the firm’s water and wastewater group, including providing recommendations for project staffing and resource allocation.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related discipline. A Master’s degree is a plus.
- 15 years of post-education experience in the engineering field with specific expertise in water/wastewater design.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required in the State of Ohio (multi-state license preferred).
- Strong proficiency with water and wastewater design engineering principles, processes, and applications.
- Extensive experience in water treatment plants, water pumping and distribution systems, wastewater treatment plants, and wastewater collection/pumping systems. Experience in upgrades, rehabilitation, new design, and construction projects is essential.
- In-depth knowledge of water/wastewater codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements.
- Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions and determine cost-effective solutions.
- Ability to work flexibly under varying schedules and prioritize responsibilities in a fast-paced, changing work environment.
- Strong written and oral communication skills for technical documentation, client interactions, and team collaboration.
- Occasional travel may be required, depending on project needs.
Salary/Compensation
- Full-time position
- Salary: $100,000 - $140,000 per year, plus bonuses.
