What are the responsibilities and job description for the Fiber Optic Splicer position at Demarc Telecom & Utility LLC?
Job Function:
Fiber Optic Splicer will be responsible for preparation, splicing and testing of fiber optic cables in the field. Assist with the install of ISP & OSP fiber cables as needed. You will be working on CATV, telecom carriers and Wireless network systems. Knowledge of cwdm and dwdm filters and testing is a plus. Our work is in MA, S. NH & Maine.
Required Qualifications:
- 0-1 yrs Experience as a Fiber Splicer
- 0-1yr Experience in telecommunications
- Must be able to follow direction
- Be able to operate aerial bucket to lower raise fiber enclosures.
- Ability to work long period in indoor and outdoor environments
- Fiber helper & apprentices looking to advance should apply.
- Good verbal, written and computer skills.
- Complete written and electronic paperwork
- Pass Driving and Criminal Background check
- Obtain a OSHA10 Certification in 60 days of employment
- Pass and continue to pass a DOT Physical
- Must have ability to take and pass industry Certifications.
- Valid Driver’s License
- Ability to lift 20lbs.
- Ability to work in inclement weather.
- Ability to workday, night and weekend if needed. No On Call at this time.
- Ability to climb, sit, kneel, squat for extended periods time
- Ability to use Ariel bucket lift.
- Ability to retrieve aerial and underground splice enclosures.
