The Controller will be responsible for managing the organization's financial function. They will maintain and improve the organization's accounting and finance principles, practices, procedures, and initiatives. This role will interact with all levels of internal staff, along with a high volume of external contacts.
Responsibilities
- Oversee all financial and accounting operations of the company, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, payroll, and financial reporting
- Develop and maintain accurate financial statements, budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections
- Manage external reporting processes and work closely with third-party partners
- Develop and implement financial controls and processes to mitigate financial risk
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation to increase efficiency and reduce costs
- Provide financial analysis and insights to support business decisions and strategic planning
- Manage the company's banking relationships and financing arrangements
- Understand and communicate company financial policies
- Prepare weekly and monthly management reporting packages
- Prepare and analyze financial data compared to budgets
- Support the Executive Team (CEO & COO) and senior management team with ad-hoc financial analysis and projects as required
- 5 years of experience in financial leadership roles
- Experience in managing an accounting department
- Strong understanding and application of generally accepted accounting principles and practices
- Expert-level understanding of Excel along with all MS Office Suite of Software products
- Experience with and expert-level understanding of ERP systems, financial reporting, and budgeting software
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships across all levels of the organization
- Demonstrated ability to lead and manage teams and projects
