JOB GOAL:
Under direction performs a variety of clerical and administrative work in support of an assigned office to provide an efficient and pleasant environment. Duties may vary by specific assignment and function of the assigned office.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Answers telephones, receives visitors and refers callers and visitors to appropriate personnel.
Receives and conveys telephone and oral instructions with minimal supervision.
Performs a variety of clerical duties such as typing, filing and photocopying,
Answers routine questions according to established guidelines.
Prepares new files and disposes of obsolete files.
Locates and removes files upon request; places and removes material in storage.
Orders office supplies and maintains supply inventory.
Receives and makes telephone calls as directed; takes and relays messages.
Types correspondence (letters and Memos) with acceptable spelling and grammar standards, filing and retrieving information promptly and accurately.
Provides general information to the public in person and on the telephone.
Performs a variety of miscellaneous office duties such as typing, filing,
photocopying, packaging, and mailing packages.
Operates a computer and software.
Helps maintain student cumulative records and long-term storage.
Assists in preparation of various clerical documents including, but not limited to registration documents for students.
Maintains confidentiality at all times.
Must be able to follow written and oral instructions with minimal supervision.
Must be able to work in an atmosphere that may at times become hectic and stressful.
Operates office equipment including but not limited to electric typewriter, copier, desktop calculator, and fax machine.
Conducts surveys and gathers information and research as requested.
Must have knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and use of the Internet required.
Performs related duties as required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
One year of responsible and varied clerical or secretarial work, including public contact
responsibilities or any combination of training, education, and/or experience which could
likely provide the required knowledge and ability.
Verifiable work and character references.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating,
maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of
organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions,
proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished
in written, oral, or diagram form.
Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized
situations.
