Key Responsibilities
- Write breaking news articles in response court decisions
- Report or edit longform projects when news is quiet.
- Share case pages and articles on social media platforms.
- Collaborate with the News Editor on deadlines and feedback.
- Participate in a weekly check-in with the Legal Editor and Trump Accountability Reporter to discuss upcoming developments and breaking news.
- Maintain clear communication with the team and keep a flexible, proactive approach to news coverage and development.
- Strong writing and editing skills with experience in legal reporting
- Solid career experience in journalism roles, with a comfort level in working independently and remotely
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work with off-hours schedules
- Comfortable using platforms like WordPress, Asana, HubSpot, Buffer, Airtable
- Prior experience with social media management and content sharing is a plus
- Willingness to undergo initial training during standard working hours in Washington D.C. or New York City (9:00 - 6:00 PM) to become proficient in necessary tools and workflows before switching to the night shift
- Weekdays: 4:00 PM - 9:00 PM.
- Remote work environment, occasional travel for all-staff retreats
