Communications Specialist
Democracy International (DI) is seeking to hire a Communications Specialist for its five-year program in the Kyrgyz Republic funded by USAID. The purpose of the activity is to increase citizen engagement and support citizen priorities and initiatives. This will be a full-time position based in Bishkek, Kyrgyz Republic and will be contingent on USAID approval. The Communications Specialist will be primarily responsible for developing and implementing internal and external communications in line with the Activity’s approved work plans and branding strategy and marking plan. This position is open to Kyrgyz citizens only.
The position’s responsibilities will include :
- Develop and adapt the Activity’s communications strategies in collaboration with the Chief of Party and Deputy Chief of Party;
- Oversee DI and partner compliance with the relevant requirements, conditions, and restrictions regarding the Activity’s communications strategy;
- Lead the technical design and implementation of specific communications activities based on the approved work plan;
- Develop and maintain high-quality content such as success stories, newsletter articles, videos, social media posts, press releases, and other communication materials;
- Develop and adhere to USAID-specific requirements (e.g., Branding and Marking Requirements) while applying Do No Harm principles and ethics and safeguarding practices in communications processes;
- As appropriate, advise personnel, consultants, partners, and Activity participants (e.g., civil society or journalists) on culturally and politically-sensitive communications and outreach strategies and practices, including interpersonal and public communications with stakeholders and the production and dissemination of digital content and physical materials;
- Oversee the development and delivery of internal efforts to enhance communications skills and ensure consistent application of standards across the field office, including through staff, consultant, and partner training;
- Use online analytics to conduct research and synthesize data, information, and stories into communications and outreach strategies, reports, and guidance documents for internal use or partner support;
- Provide advice to personnel, consultants, and partners on formulating and producing targeted and relevant communications content that is to be disseminated via various internal and external platforms in connection with the objectives of the Activity.
