Deputy Research Director
The DSCC is hiring Deputy Research Directors for the 2026 election cycle. The Deputy Research Director is a critical part of the DSCC’s senior research and communications leadership and a key resource for Senate campaign research directors and departments. A successful deputy will oversee and focus departmental efforts on the production of innovative long-term investigative research materials and high-quality, timely research products. The DSCC is hiring Deputy Research Directors for the 2026 election cycle. The Deputy Research Director is a critical part of the DSCC’s senior research and communications leadership and a key resource for Senate campaign research directors and departments. A successful deputy will oversee and focus departmental efforts on the production of innovative long-term investigative research materials and high-quality, timely research products. Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Each Deputy Research Director will be responsible for a portfolio of battleground states, and (working with the Research Director) management of the research associates assigned to those states.
- Overseeing the creation of research materials and programs in their portfolio of battleground states, acting as a primary point of contact and resource for campaign research departments in those races.
- Developing, guiding, and editing long-term research projects and investigative materials in partnership with the other members of the senior research team.
- Planning and executing investigative research plans, including specific targeting of public records requests or archival research.
- Working with the Research Director, DSCC Communications Department, and state party staff to develop and vet actionable opposition research and rapid response materials.
- Assisting the DSCC Communications and Digital departments in the creation and vetting of public facing press, fundraising, and social media assets.
- Helping the Research Director identify departmental priorities, operations and scheduling, and completing other assignments and tasks as needed within the Research Department.
Ideal qualifications for Deputy Research Director include but are not limited to:
- At least one cycle of experience as a Research Director on a competitive statewide campaign strongly preferred. Experience in senior-level research management at a political committee or national political campaign will also be considered.
- Management experience of two or more researchers as part of a department or team, including project planning, document editing, and creative goal setting.
- Extensive experience with archival and public records-related research.
The salary for this position is $125,000 annually.
