About the Role
Weโre seeking a dynamic, mission-driven leader to serve as Executive Director for three interconnected nonprofit organizations:
- Denali Chamber of Commerce โ Advocating for and supporting a vibrant small business community through events, training, and policy engagement.
- Discover Denali (DMO) โ Promoting the Denali region as a world-class visitor destination and supporting tourism-related businesses.
- Denali Community Foundation - Advancing workforce, economic and community development.

Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Governance
- Schedule and lead board meetings; onboard and support board members.
- Collaborate with both boards on organizational planning, policy, and priorities.
Operations & Financial Management
- Oversee day-to-day operations and staff management.
- Maintain financial and compliance records (payroll, taxes, insurance, licensing).
- Develop and manage annual budgets and spending plans.
Programs & Contracts
- Administer grants, borough contracts, and event programming.
- Plan and execute events such as the Denali Blueberry Festival, Annual Meeting & Silent Auction, and Trunk or Treat.
Marketing & Communications
- Manage websites, newsletters, publications, and social media strategy.
- Serve as spokesperson and represent all organizations in public forums and press engagements.
Advocacy & Partnerships
- Represent the business community at Denali Borough Assembly meetings (min. 10 per year).
- Advocate for local business and tourism interests with government partners.
- Engage with tourism and economic development panels and organizations.
Ideal Candidate Will Have
- 2โ3 years of leadership experience in nonprofit, tourism, or chamber environments.
- Familiarity with rural/seasonal communities; Denali region experience preferred.
- Strong communication and public speaking skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, WordPress, Canva, Freshbooks.
- Adobe InDesign experience strongly preferred.
- Ability to work independently and juggle multiple responsibilities.
Bonus Skills
- Experience with web hosting, database management, or publication layout.
- Background in event planning or contract management.
- Passion for small business support and sustainable tourism.
Additional Details
- Conference Attendance Required: Alaska Chamber and ATIA conference (annually).
- Work Schedule: Approx. 20-30 hours/week, with flexibility and room to grow.
- Work Environment: Remote/hybrid work possible, with some travel and in-person duties.
