Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Estimator to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction knowledge (residential and commercial roofing specific). Experience with Acculynx and Xactimate software. Ability to build and maintain relationships with clients and and insurance carriers. This role is crucial in ensuring accurate pricing for projects, negotiating contracts, and supporting cost control measures throughout the construction process.
Responsibilities
- Reviewing project documents: Thoroughly analyzing measurement reports, plan drawings, specifications, and other project documents to understand the scope of work.
- Quantity takeoff: Calculating the exact quantities of materials needed for the project, including roofing material, lumber, and other construction elements.
- Cost analysis: Researching and obtaining pricing information from vendors and subcontractors to estimate labor and material costs.
- Subcontractor bidding: Soliciting bids from subcontractors and evaluating their proposals to ensure competitive pricing and quality.
- Preparing cost estimates: Compiling all cost elements into a comprehensive project estimate, including contingencies for potential unforeseen issues.
- Risk assessment: Identifying potential risks and cost variations that could impact the project budget.
- Proposal writing: Creating detailed proposals for clients, outlining project scope, costs, and timelines.
- Account Communication: Maintaining consistent communication clients and insurance carriers, addressing questions, and negotiating contract/settlement terms.
- Collaboration with project team: Working closely with project managers, installers, adjusters, and other stakeholders to ensure accurate cost estimations.
- Maintaining cost data: Keeping track of historical project costs and market trends to inform future estimates.
Qualifications
- Technical knowledge: Strong understanding of construction methods, building codes, and materials
- Analytical skills: Ability to interpret complex project documents and accurately calculate costs
- Software proficiency: Expertise in construction estimating software for quantity takeoffs and cost analysis
- Communication skills: Effective communication with clients, subcontractors, and project team members
- Attention to detail: High level of accuracy in data analysis and cost calculations
- Negotiation skills: Ability to negotiate pricing with subcontractors and vendors
