JOB SUMMARY
The Security Officer/Medic is a hybrid role that requires the employee to perform a variety of EMT and Security related duties. The position is located in a remote camp on the North Slope of Alaska with a rotational schedule of 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off, 12-hour shifts. Lodging, meals, and transportation between Anchorage and the jobsite are covered by the company.
EMT: Under the direction of a licensed medical physician or designated healthcare provider, the EMT responds to emergency calls, administers emergency medical treatment and transports sick/injured patients to definitive care medical facilities or evaluates and treats non-emergent medical conditions.
Security: Performs security services and other infrastructure support functions based on the contract requirements. This includes providing security and protection of work site(s), personnel and assets; enforcing safety measures, operating a vehicle for patrol purposes, providing inspection and/or incident response services. Incumbents are required to be firearms licensed, trained & qualified.

Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 21 years of age
- EMT III certification (State of Alaska) or higher
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification
- Valid driver’s license
- Armed Security Guard License (State of Alaska) or ability to obtain
- Must be able to pass company’s pre-employment criminal background check process, drug testing, and post-offer physical/functional capacity evaluation (FCE).
- Prior work experience at an EMS or Medical facility
- Prior work experience in private security, military service, law enforcement or a related field
- EMT responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Respond to emergency calls to provide efficient & immediate care to the critically ill and injured
- Determine the nature and extent of illness or injury, or magnitude of catastrophe, to establish emergency medical intervention procedures to be followed or the need for additional assistance, basing decisions on statements of persons involved, examination of the victim(s), and knowledge of emergency medical practice.
- Administer emergency medical treatment and life support to sick or injured persons in a pre-hospital setting
- Remove or assist in the removal of victims from the scene of an incident
- Transport patients to a medical facility
- Observe, record and convey patient’s condition/status to other medical personnel
- Communicate effectively with other medical professionals at emergency rooms, air medevac companies, hospitals, and clinics.
- Support the on-site medical provider or client’s Medical Emergency Response Team (MERT) as needed or directed. Evaluate and treat minor illness or injury under the direction of a physician or designated healthcare professional.
- Comprehend and apply medical standing orders, directives and administrative procedures
- Maintain vehicles, emergency medical and communication equipment and replenish emergency medical equipment and supplies.
- Security responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Guard property against damage, fire, theft, and illegal or unauthorized entry.
- Conduct regular and random patrols (by foot or vehicle) of buildings and grounds, examining doors, windows, and gates to ensure that they are properly secured.
- Perform searches of people, vehicles, buildings, and other assigned areas.
- Display courteous, respectful and professional interactions with the public and customers.
- May be asked to perform rescue functions at accidents, emergencies and disasters.
- Effectively and coherently communicate over radio channels while initiating and responding to radio communications.
- Interview people to detect infringements and to investigate disturbances, complaints, thefts, vandalism and accidents or incidents. Submit clear documentation.
- Report irregularities to management.
- Write Daily Activity Reports, Incident Reports and/or Emergency Action Plans as applicable
- May assist management and law enforcement officials in emergency situations
- Exercise sound judgement in determining appropriate action to be taken in changing situations.
- Maintain composure and control in all situations.
- Safely operate a motor vehicle in a variety of settings, day and night and during varying weather conditions
- Must comply with established dress code/uniform requirements
- Participate in regular safety meetings, safety training and hazard assessments
- Must be able to meet and continue to meet any applicable state/local licensing and permit requirements for the position including required medical certification(s), Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and weapons qualifications.
