This position is located in Fairbanks, Alaska working a two week on / two week off rotational schedule. Transportation and housing is not provided.

JOB SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Security Captain, the Security Sergeant is responsible for the management and supervision of security and medical personnel, equipment, and facilities. Required Qualifications
- Four years of combined experience in an officer level position or above with a Municipal, State or Federal Law Enforcement Agency, military police unit, corrections or private security company with at least two years of experience in a security position
- Two years of experience on TAPS (experience must have been within the last five years)
- Emergency Trauma Technician Certification (or ability to obtain)
- Valid State of Alaska Armed Security Guard License
- Able to proficiently speak, read, understand and write English
- Ability to work in a constant state of alertness in a safe manner
- Affect an arrest, if necessary, using handcuffs
- Perform searches of people, vehicles, vessels, buildings, and large outdoor areas
- Confront suspicious persons, assess intentions, and take action as appropriate
- Maintain composure and control of a situation while enduring verbal and mental abuse when confronted with the hostile views and opinions of people encountered in an antagonistic environment
- Make management level decisions in emergencies
- Assume temporary responsibility of job assignments and special projects in the absence of staff members
- Perform rescue functions at accidents, emergencies and disasters to include administering emergency medical aid, removing people from dangerous situations, and securing and evacuating people from hazardous areas. May work extended during periods in event of emergencies
- Extinguish fires by using a fire extinguisher and other appropriate means
- Gather information in investigations by interviewing and obtaining statements of all participants and witnesses
- Schedule personnel and coordinate adjustments of the work force to meet immediate and projected manpower requirements and initiate personnel actions in accordance with DUS policy and procedure
- Read, comprehend, and employ policies and procedures
- Supervise training of assigned personnel on the job, provide direct instruction for security officers, and insure client and DUS training program requirements are met
- Regularly evaluate individual performance of officers. Identify and develop personnel for promotion
- Liaison with federal, state and local law enforcement authorities, client and DUS security leads and managers, federal and state oversight agencies, and other individuals
- Operate a motor vehicle during both day and night in hazardous road conditions caused by factors such as rain, snow, sleet, ice, fog, smoke, and unimproved roads
