Role Overview
The Benefits Manager is responsible for daily supervision of the benefits team and activities, coaching and development of team members, and daily administration of health, wellness and financial benefits.
Responsibilities
- Supervision
- Daily supervision and support of benefit team members
- Delegate tasks and provide proper follow-up
- Coach and mentor team to establish goals and assist them in creating pathways for success, growth, and advancement
- Benefits Administration
- Maintain collaborative relationships with benefit and HRIS vendors
- Assure internal and external teams work together to efficiently complete enrollments, status changes, and corrections
- Assist VP of Human Resources with day-to-day administration of self-funded medical insurance plan
- Consult with vendors regarding claims as needed
- Coordinate ongoing plan audits and special audits as needed
- Assist with employee communication efforts especially related to enrollment
- Coordinate with Benefits Specialist and broker to assure vendor partners meet expectations for performance
- Address employee questions and concerns by interpreting benefit policies and procedures
- Manage Terry Berry anniversary award and Be Well wellness programs
- HRIS
- Coordinate updates and changes to ADP business rules for benefit enrollment events and benefit plans set-up
- Coordinate efforts to escalate the need for assistance
- Compliance
- Assure timely and accurate compliance with applicable government regulations, plan documents, and company policies
- Assure on time filing of ACA 1095 remittances using ADPs Compliance module
- Coordinate efforts to perform ACA audits on a quarterly basis
- Assure completion of annual benefits 5500 filings and SAR distribution
- Assist with 401k compliance
- Special Projects
- Create Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for benefit team functions
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Proficient understanding of benefits (plan designs, premium calculations, plan limits, coverages, exclusions, enrollment methods, eligibility, etc.)
- Bachelor's degree in business, HR, accounting, finance or other relevant field
- 3 years of recent group benefits administration work experience or other closely related work experience
- 3 years work experience managing a team of 2 or more people
- Recent work experience with HRIS systems and automated data file feeds
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, specifically Excel and PowerPoint
Preferred Qualifications
We prefer candidates with:
- 5 years of group benefits administration work experience or other closely related work experience
- 5 years work experience managing a team of 2 or more people
- Recent experience with ADP Workforce Now and automated data file feeds
- Bilingual (English & Spanish)
Work Environment
This is a full-time position in-office, requiring 40 hours per week of sitting, standing, typing, and viewing a computer screen for extended periods of time. Other less frequent physical demands include bending and lifting.
