What are the responsibilities and job description for the Residence Hall Monitor position at Denmark Technical College?
Job Responsibilities
Maintain a safe and secure living environment for student residents; greet and check the identification of all individuals entering the residence halls when necessary; answer all telephone calls in a manner that is professional, friendly, courteous, and efficient; taking messages as needed for resident students and staff and ensuring that the messages are delivered in a timely manner; and keep front desk area in a neat and orderly fashion at all times. Responsible for enforcing residence hall policies such as: the release of resident information, i.e. telephone numbers and room numbers; emergency procedures including severe weather procedures, bomb threat procedures, medical emergencies, etc., resident hall policies regarding visitation, alcohol, drug and other policies; strictly monitor the hallways, and exit doors by walking the floors and maintaining visibility. Monitor and maintain a daily log prior to the end of shift and provide written reports of all incidents (policy violations, fire alarms, bomb threats, fights, vandalism, emergencies, etc.) in and around assigned areas. Perform other duties as assigned by the Dean of Students/Director of Residential Life.
Minimum And Additional Requirements
High school diploma required with at least one (1) year of related experience working in a residence hall type environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrate sensitivity to the needs and concerns of the residents; be familiar with persons living in assigned residence halls; provide information and assistance to public safety, as needed. Basic writing skills and computer usage required. Familiarity with Microsoft Word, possess basic internet and email skills.
