Responsibilities
- Verify patient insurance coverage and benefits prior to services rendered.
- Process and submit claims to insurance companies, ensuring accuracy and compliance with ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding standards.
- Review and resolve claim denials by communicating with insurance providers and patients.
- Maintain accurate medical records in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
- Collaborate with medical office staff to ensure proper documentation of patient information.
- Assist in the management of managed care contracts and maintain up-to-date knowledge of changes in insurance policies.
- Provide support in dental office insurance processes as needed.
- Educate patients on their insurance benefits and assist them with questions regarding their coverage.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a medical office or dental office setting is preferred.
- Proficiency in medical coding (ICD-9, ICD-10) and understanding of medical terminology is essential.
- Familiarity with insurance verification processes and managed care systems.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality is maintained.
