What are the responsibilities and job description for the Paraeducator II/Certified Applied Behavior Analysis Assistant - CABA position at Dennis Yarmouth Regional School District?
HOURS: Monday through Friday, 7.5 hours per day plus a half hour unpaid lunch
COMPENSATION: Per the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the Dennis-Yarmouth Regional School Committee and the Dennis-Yarmouth Regional Secretaries and Assistants Association located on the DY website.

SUMMARY: To assist the Teacher and Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) in implementing an Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) program for students with autism spectrum behavior disorders.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Incorporates specific educational objectives into the context of on-going activities, as appropriate.
- Facilitates opportunities for generalization and maintenance of skills.
- Collects data on targeted skills and prepares graphs of student data.
- Communicates with students’ parents via communication log, under the supervision of teacher/supervisor.
- Maintains a student notebook in a neat and orderly manner.
- Maintains student specific materials and reinforcers.
- Schedules activities as directed.
- May be asked to conduct two-hour house visits with students and families, or as required by supervisor.
- May be asked to participate in family clinics for students
- Reviews progress on IEP goals.
- Participates in writing students’ progress reports.
- Updates students’ guidelines.
- Participates in administration of curriculum based assessments as required.
- Foster student independence while supporting individual needs.
- Assist with the supervision of students lunch period.
- Responsible for carrying out tasks that allow student to meet their IEP goals and appropriately function in the educations setting. Tasks may include assisting with behavior, medical, social, academic or self-help interventions.
- May be required to assist student with personal hygiene and toileting.
- Maintain proper confidentiality of student records.
- Set a good example in terms of dress, punctuality and attendance.
- Supporting the toileting and daily living skills of student can be an essential function of the job.
- Assists students in getting on and off the bus safely, as needed.
- May be required to assist in lifting students on and off the bus.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Board certification as Assistant Behavior Analyst.
- CPR, First Aid Certification is desirable.
- Participate in annual training, for blood borne pathogens, universal precautions, 51A, bullying, epi-pen, etc.
- Must be highly qualified.
- Associate’s Degree, two years of college or passing score on the ParaPro test.
- Two years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge of child development (intellectual, social/emotional, and physical) and 12 months experience working with students with special needs is desirable.
