Boutique law firm headed by a successful, highly experienced, well-respected and board certified litigator is seeking an associate attorney with a purpose and a long view of his/her career and aspirations to join the team. This position is on site at the firm’s Coral Springs, Florida office. The associate will handle all matters of commercial and personal injury cases from inception through trial and fulfill responsibilities such as:
- Handle initial client meeting displaying compassion and understanding while being cognizant of the sales skills necessary to close the sale
- Obtain necessary information, analyze and organize initial information, be proficient with the new disclosure requirements in order to know what needs to be obtained and to get that ball moving quickly
- Responsible for the organization and theory of the case
- Responsible to ask questions and to brainstorm with others case theories, concerns and strengths.
- Draft Complaints
- Oversee overall case management
- Review clients’ records
- Close communication with clients, adjusters
- Be able to draft thoughtful and directed RFA’s, interrogatories and requests to produce
- Handle Depositions: Preparation, strategy, skillful and fearless questioning, take expert depositions
- Be familiar with the nuances of a PFS
- Handle Trial: Know the rules of evidence, draft jury instructions and lists/verdict sheets, conduct trial as first chair, beginning to end
Qualifications:
- Must have a Florida Bar License in good standing
- Must have a minimum of 5 years’ litigation experience, first-chair trial experience a strong plus
- Must know the rules of civil procedure, federal and state, including deadlines, and discovery deadlines of time relative to discovery
- Must be creative and knowledgeable about causes of action and substantive elements of those causes of action
- Must have excellent research and writing skills
- Must be organized and proficient in determining issues
- Must have the ability to home in on the important issues
- Must be able to collaborate professionally and respectfully with the owner and staff
- Must have the ability to track time accurately
- Must have knowledge of Word, Excel, Acrobat DC, familiarity with Neos is a plus..
