Job SummaryThe Senior Corporate Counsel for Commercial and Regulatory will support the organization in a broad range of commercial and regulatory matters. The candidate will work across multiple businesses and functions in North America to develop and deliver legal solutions to complex and complicated business needs. The candidate will work directly with members of the legal team, purchasing, sales, engineering, and business executives to proactively identify solutions that address and manage contract, regulatory, and transactional risks. The candidate must have excellent judgment, have the courage to make difficult decisions, and be able to influence peers and executives on strategic initiatives.ResponsibilitiesAdvise and counsel business partners on legal issues related to transactional matters involving the purchase and sale of goods and services; sourcing of direct and indirect commodities / supplies; and establishment of a variety of collaborative relationships in support of the company’s short- and long-term vision.Provide support to Sales, Purchasing, and Engineering functions in the review, drafting, and negotiation of a wide variety of transactional documents, including software licensing documents and other documents regularly encountered in support of manufacturing supply chain transactions and complex sales relationships in the automotive industry.Provide advice and counsel on various regulatory matters typically encountered by large manufacturers in the automotive industry, including OSHA, NHTSA, FMVSS, Import / Export, and Environmental regulations.Develop and deliver contract and regulatory training to business partners and other stakeholders.Manage policy requirements to satisfy the North American contract review process as well as the contract review process for the foreign parent company.Maintain a current understanding of industry or functional trends in the area of responsibility and build on them to generate creative and innovative solutions.Travel to domestic locations.Perform other duties as assigned by General Counsel.QualificationsJuris Doctorate from an accredited law school required.
