Job Summary:
The Product Development Manager oversees product development and management activities. Controls the evolution of sales of one or more company products. Supports with the development of associates as well as taking part in Human Resources activities involving associate counseling, evaluating work performance and assisting in skill development.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Researches the design of products and ensures that quality standards are met.
- Evaluates and resolves with product managers the technical feasibility, design optimization and production issues with new or existing products.
- Ensures that labeling and marketing/promotional literature match product specifications.
- Researches and monitors existing client base and industry developments to identify potential new product opportunities.
- Partners with other departments to establish a design, technology, product development and vendor strategy.
- Prepares project budgets and prepares financial analysis for executive management review and approval.
- Responsible, along with senior management, for the development of short-and-long range plans for assigned products.
- Performs Human Resources activities including tracking of time and attendance, associate counseling, scheduling, evaluating work performance and assists in skill development.
- Fosters high morale and teamwork by supporting the activities of subordinates through daily interaction and one on one contact.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- Strong knowledge of product development theories, processes and terms
- Excellent written and oral communication skills and good presentation skills
- Strong customer service skills
- Negotiation skills to resolve difficult or complicated situations
- Advanced level of experience using Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel
- Analytical skills to interpret potentially conflicting data
- Experience with Business Intelligence platforms
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- People management
- Bachelors degree in marketing, business or related field
- Minimum of 10 years of related experience
- Automotive aftermarket experience
