Location: Amherst, NY
Schedule: Monday-Friday 7:00am - 3:30pm
Responsibilities:
- Transcribes the information provided by the physician and patient, including Chief Complaint, History and Physical Exam, Review of Systems, and Differential Diagnosis.
- Deletes non-pertinent information from past history in medical record.
- Ensures the patient note is completed accurately and locked by end of business day. This includes assigning a specific billing code and obtaining physician approval.
- Assists provider in completing assigned Jellybeans in a timely fashion.
- Checks all patient notes at end of business day to ensure they are completed and locked.
- Provides administrative support to assist Medical Secretary and physician, including patient correspondence and follow-up, and prior authorizations.
- Responds appropriately to patient inquiries and physician’s office inquiries, providing accurate and detailed information.
- Data entry into EMR pertaining to the patient’s office visit; entering any prescriptions, diagnostic testing and outside procedures.
- Complies with quality assurance, HIPAA, customer focus, infection control, safety and other policies set forth.
- Reports errors or problems so that appropriate action may be taken for patient care.
- Maintains confidentiality of patient information in accordance with all HIPAA regulations.
- Interacts and cooperates with physicians and other health care professionals in assurance of accurate medical record content for physicians’ review.
- May be asked to assist with research endeavors of the managing physician.
- Represents the Dent by displaying a respectful and caring manner with patients and their families.
- Interacts calmly, respectfully and in a friendly manner with other representatives of services at the Dent.
- Other duties may be requested by Department Manager but only after approval of managing physician
Skills & Experience Necessary:
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology and the contents of a medical record.
- Previous experience working within an Electronic Medical Record System.
- At least one year previous experience working in a medical office environment, preferably as a Medical Assistant.
- Excellent computer skills, with the ability to type at least 40 WPM.
- Strong planning, problem solving, organizational, verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Working knowledge of general office equipment including fax and copy machines, multi-line phone system, and personal computers.
- Working proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word programs.
- Ability to address and resolve conflict in a professional manner.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
- Ability to be flexible.
Required Education
- Associates Degree and 2 years related experience or High School Diploma and 3 years related
Compensation:
- Most candidates will start within the first quartile of the pay range
- Rates are commensurate with experience
