Specific job responsibilities of our Dental Hygienists include, but are not limited to:
- Provide a full range of dental hygiene services, including cleanings (prophylaxis), scaling and root planing, and the application of fluoride and sealants
- Detect disease by completing oral cancer screening; feeling and visually examining gums, using probes to locate periodontal disease and to assess levels of recession
- Evaluate each patient’s oral health to determine and select the appropriate tools, materials, and techniques for their hygiene visit
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques, plaque control, and post-treatment care to support long-term oral health
- Accurately document medical and dental histories, vital signs, and treatment details in patient records
- Preparation of treatment rooms, ensuring all instruments and equipment are properly sterilized and ready for use
- Break down and disinfect operatories post-treatment, returning instruments promptly for sterilization
- Capture diagnostic x-rays (as needed) in line with ADA recommendations and clinical protocols
Requirements
- Exceptional customer service skills with a warm, empathetic, and energetic approach to patient care
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to follow clinical protocols and office policies consistently
- Possess a professional and positive attitude
- Associate’s degree from an accredited dental hygiene program
- Active Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) license in the state of Connecticut
- Active Professional Liability Insurance
- Active Basic Life Support Certification (or willingness to obtain promptly)
- Must be available to work one Saturday per month
