Job Summary:
Our client is a successful, growing Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Center. Due to growth and potential future growth, they are looking for an experienced Director of Operations. This role is responsible for overseeing the daily operations, administration, and strategic growth of a high-volume, single-location Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery practice with multiple surgeons. This role ensures operational efficiency, financial stability, compliance with healthcare regulations, and a superior patient experience while leading and managing staff effectively for current and future expansion plans. Ideal candidates will have managed 10 locations with a small to medium DSO or Specialty Group managing multiple sites and multiple doctors.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Leadership & Practice Management
- Oversee daily operations, ensuring a smooth, efficient, and patient-centered workflow
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to enhance efficiency and standardize operations
- Monitor and optimize scheduling, patient flow, and resource allocation
- Collaborate with the surgeons and clinical staff to improve patient care and clinical outcomes
- Project Management experience growing multiple locations and logistics
Financial & Business Management
- Manage the practices financial health, including budgeting, revenue cycle management, and expense control
- Oversee billing, coding, and insurance processes to maximize revenue and minimize denials
- Track key performance indicators (KPIs) and financial reports to identify trends and opportunities for improvement
- Negotiate vendor contracts and manage relationships with external service providers
Human Resources & Staff Leadership
- Recruit, train, and develop non-clinical staff, including front office, billing, and administrative personnel
- Foster a positive workplace culture that aligns with the practices mission and values
- Oversee staff scheduling, performance evaluations, and conflict resolution
- Ensure compliance with employment laws and HR best practices
Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure adherence to all federal, state, and local healthcare regulations, including OSHA, HIPAA, and other industry standards
- Maintain proper credentialing, licensing, and certifications for surgeons and staff
- Oversee risk management initiatives and ensure workplace safety
Technology & Facilities Management
- Supervise the implementation and maintenance of electronic health records (EHR) and practice management software
- Manage IT infrastructure, ensuring cybersecurity and system efficiency
- Oversee facility maintenance, equipment procurement, and inventory management
Marketing & Business Development
- Develop and execute marketing strategies to enhance patient acquisition and referral relationships
- Strengthen relationships with referring dentists and healthcare providers to drive practice growth
- Monitor patient satisfaction and implement strategies for continuous improvement
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in business administration or applicable degree field
- 5 years of leadership experience in a group or mid-market DSO (dental, but preferably in oral and maxillofacial surgery)
- Strong knowledge of medical/dental billing, insurance processes, and revenue cycle management
- Proven ability to lead teams, manage financial performance, and optimize operations
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in EHR and practice management software
