Summary DescriptionAs a Buyer this position is directly responsible for all phases of the purchasing function including development and administration of policies and procedures and the procurement of all materials and services required for the efficient operation of the company. |
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesResponsible for the procurement of all required materials and services to support production/facility demands utilizing the Oracle MRP system. Monitor inventory levels and coordinate delivery schedules to achieve inventory goals and objectives. Negotiate optimal pricing agreements with all suppliers. Adhere to ISO Procedures. Prepare purchasing reports as required. Develop new suppliers and sourcing opportunities. Expedite orders as required to support production. Perform all other duties necessary to insure the efficient and effective performance of the purchasing department. Provide prompt and accurate material support to internal customers. Prompt regular attendance is required. |
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:Education and/or Experience:Associates degree in a related discipline or equivalent experience in a manufacturing environment. Five (5) years in a manufacturing environment. Knowledge of metal castings. Knowledge of plastic injection moldings a plus. Knowledge of Kanban and lean manufacturing systems a plus. Knowledge of engineering prints and specifications a plus. |
Language Skills:Read, write, and verbally communicate in English. Good written and verbal communication skills, strong negotiator, and strong analytical ability. |
Computer Skills:Proficiency in using the personal computer, including Windows-based applications. Experience with Oracle, SAP, or similar inventory control system |
Reasoning Abilities:Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions. Person must be resourceful and a self-starter. Ability to prioritize and multi-task. Must be conscientious and detail minded. Must be able to work in fast paced, quick changing atmosphere. |

Reads written information and requires the ability to understand conceptual material. Significant time spent sitting at a desk. |
