Job Description
The Orthodontic Assistant aides the Orthodontist in the completion of procedures. They will also follow instructions to complete procedures and all other duties involved in patient care. It is also the responsibility of the Orthodontic Assistant to be led by the Orthodontic Assistant Team Leader and assume all duties that are assigned to them.
· Assist the Orthodontist in the delivery of patient care.
· Prepare trays for scheduled procedures.
· Change barriers and sterilize equipment.
· Perform Bonding, Banding, and Appliance Delivery procedures.
· Perform Adjustments and Remove, Size, and Place wires.
· Complete ordering and stocking.
· Give instructions to patients and their families for proper care of braces and other appliances.
· Establish a trusting relationship with patients and their families.
· Perform electronic patient charting in orthodontics software and review the medical history of patients.
· Perform patient Care Calls and Problem Focused Exam scheduling calls.
· Clean and sterilize instruments without cross-contamination.
· Take patient records (Photos, Pano and Ceph Images).
· Take impressions, pour models, and make clear retainers and bleaching trays.
· Perform iTero scanning for Invisalign and appliances.
· Ensure the highest quality of care at all times.
