Responsibilities
- Assist dentists during examinations and procedures, ensuring a sterile and organized environment.
- Prepare and maintain dental instruments and equipment for various procedures.
- Perform four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency during treatments.
- Manage patient records and medical documentation accurately, adhering to HIPAA regulations.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and post-operative care instructions.
- Conduct routine tasks such as taking dental radiographs (X-rays) and assisting with medical coding as needed.
- Ensure infection control protocols are followed to maintain a safe clinical environment.
- Collaborate with team members to provide exceptional patient care in a pediatric setting when necessary.
Skills
- Proficient in dental assisting techniques with knowledge of anatomy relevant to dental health.
- Familiarity with Dentrix software for managing patient records and appointments.
- Strong understanding of infection control practices within a dental clinic setting.
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and team members.
- Experience in pediatrics is a plus but not mandatory.
- Knowledge of medical documentation processes and basic medical coding is advantageous.
