Description
We are looking for a passionate life-long learner to lead the team at the Explorium Denton Children's Museum, a program of Denton County Friends of the Family. The Explorium Manager is responsible for the day to day operations of the Museum including, personnel and volunteer management, budget and goal management, development and implementation of educational programming, project management and reporting.
Primary Functions:
- Develop goals, objectives, strategies and budgets to assure the effective, efficient and profitable operation of the Explorium
- Uphold the organization's mission and brand image in all interactions.
- Manage the Explorium team, including hiring, training, performance evaluation, and staff development
- Schedule all staff hours and manage time off requests to ensure proper coverage
- Manage the facility and exhibits to ensure a welcoming, safe, sanitary and engaging environment for all visitors and staff
- Oversee daily educational programming, memberships, parties, tours, field trips, camps, and special events
- Evaluate data and anecdotal evidence to foster membership growth and retention
- Effectively access and produce reports from the museum POS system and database. Prepare and interpret reports to meet the analytical and strategic needs of the museum
- Maintain supply inventory and exhibit upkeep
- Respond to emergencies and ensure compliance with policies and procedures
- Maintain a working knowledge of significant developments and trends in the field
- Participate in outreach and build partnerships with community agencies and businesses
- Promote services available through Denton County Friends of the Family to visitors and partners.
- Ensure internal policy and regulatory compliance
- Attend staff meetings, trainings, and community events as needed
Requirements
Prerequisites:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience
- 3 years management experience including staff supervision and financial management
- Experience collaborating with other community groups and businesses
- Proficiency in Word, Excel, Access, and other Windows based programs
- Excellent communication and time management skills
- Familiarity with museum and/or education organizations and management
Preferences:
- Bilingual in Spanish
- Some experience in a nonprofit environment
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift 25 lbs.
- Ability to easily climb stairs
- Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time
Salary : $50,000 - $55,000
