The Data and Modeling Analyst will support data-driven decision-making by managing, analyzing, and modeling transit-related data to inform operational strategies and planning initiatives. This role involves creating predictive models, evaluating service performance, and providing actionable insights to improve transit service efficiency and customer experience. The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills, a keen analytical mindset, and a passion for public transportation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop, maintain, and refine predictive models to analyze ridership patterns, demand forecasting, and operational efficiency.
- Analyze data from various sources, including fare collection systems, vehicle tracking systems, customer surveys, and demographic datasets, to support planning and service optimization.
- Design and implement dashboards, reports, and visualizations to communicate key metrics and trends to stakeholders.
- Collaborate with the Manager of Data Analytics on the development of new dashboards and the maintenance of existing data tools that support transit planning efforts.
- Collaborate with planners and stakeholders to evaluate service performance against established benchmarks and recommend adjustments.
- Conduct scenario analyses and simulations to evaluate the impact of proposed service changes, infrastructure investments, and policy adjustments.
- Assist in the development and calibration of transit network models, ensuring alignment with regional and agency goals.
- Support fare policy analysis by evaluating pricing structures, revenue impacts, and customer equity considerations.
- Work closely with IT and data teams to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and accessibility across systems.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and methods in data analytics, modeling, and transit planning.
- Provide technical assistance and training to staff on data-related tools and techniques.

Education & Experience: (where applicable, an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered)
- Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Transportation Engineering, Urban Planning, Statistics, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in data analysis, modeling, or related fields, preferably within the transportation or transit industry.
- Proficiency with data analysis tools such as Python, R, SQL, or similar software.
- Experience with GIS software and spatial data analysis.
Special Requirements:
Hold a current valid Texas Driver’s License or have the ability to obtain one upon entry into the position.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong understanding of data modeling techniques, including predictive analytics, simulation modeling, and machine learning.
- Proficiency in data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or similar platforms.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Knowledge of transit operations, performance metrics, and related regulatory frameworks.
- Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to handle multiple priorities effectively.
- Familiarity with federal and state transportation data reporting requirements is a plus.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES

The essential functions of this position require the daily use of a computer and telephone and are performed in an office environment. Ability to work in an office setting and travel within the service area as needed. May require occasional evening or weekend work to meet project deadlines or attend events.
