PRIMARY PURPOSE: Supports all aspects of the construction process from the acquisition of property through the warranty phase of new construction and building renovations; serves with the construction management team(s) to provide guidance and support of the construction managers’ work; helps in the coordination and management of all new construction and renovation projects in the district; helps to ensure compliance with planning and zoning requirements; works with immediate supervisor, demographers & developers to ensure the District stays ahead of the fast growth in our area
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
- Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s preferred
- Valid Texas Administrator’s Certificate issued by State Board for Educator Certification
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Working knowledge of curriculum and instruction
- Ability to evaluate instructional programs
- Ability to organize and direct personnel and related projects
- Knowledge of teaching and learning needs, design and construction schedules and budgets
- Ability to remain calm and poised in stressful situations
- Ability to communicate and work with the public and maintain an effective working relationship with auxiliary personnel, administrators, teaching staff, design and construction teams, and district administrators
- Ability to communicate effectively with District Administrators and School Board Members
- Excellent organizational communication, interpersonal, and computer skills
- Knowledge of project planning and construction principles
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations
- Knowledge of building codes, zoning ordinances, and the inspection certification process
- Excellent hearing and vision (including peripheral, color discrimination and depth perception)
- Ability to read blueprints and schematics
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Some knowledge of construction project management, architectural, or engineering experience
Experience:
- At least five years of management experience
- At least five years as an instructional administrator at the campus level
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Participates in the construction process for the district, inclusive of:
- Evaluation and acquisition of school sites
- Architect and contractor selection
- Budget and construction cost estimation
- Liaison to the architects and district staff to develop the building design
- Works with the oversight of the construction process
- Supports on-site inspection of construction projects to ensure conformance with construction documents, programs, and needs.
- Supports the maintenance of construction progress design, bidding, construction, and closeout.
- Supports and helps to coordinate and conduct project development and construction progress meetings.
- Helps supervise warranty correction work.
- Helps maintains safety standards in conformance with federal, state, and insurance regulations
- Consults with faculties, administrative staff, and community concerning program preparation and construction design needs.
- Supports the coordination, storage, and handling of construction documents.
- Compiles, maintains, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required.
- Assists the building principals in developing and implementing temporary access issue necessitated by construction.
- Supports the Monitoring and approval of financial aspects of the projects.
- Assists in the furniture layout and acquisition process.
- Supports the process to for architects, engineers, and consultants to develop, review, and finalize project.
- Supports with the regulation of district construction projects.
- Helps with the review of existing facilities and makes recommendations for improvements as needed.
- Assist with the recommendation and priorities for repair projects.
- Follows all rules, regulations, and policies of the Denton ISD and directives from supervisors.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Architects, engineers, and construction companies (in consultation with the executive manager of construction, planning and growth, & executive director of operations)

Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Frequent district-wide and occasional statewide travel; occasional prolonged and irregular hours; frequent standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, pushing and pulling; occasional lifting up to 50 pounds; prolonged use of computer and repetitive hand motions; works indoors and outdoors to conduct on-site inspection of all facilities and construction projects; works around machinery with moving parts; works on ladders or scaffolding; continuous lifting, carrying, dragging; continuous reaching above shoulder level; frequent driving of vehicles; frequent bending and squatting; continuous walking; continuous standing; both limited & extended sitting; subject to temperature extremes; subject to fumes, dust, solvents, and toxic chemicals/materials; must work with machinery with moving parts
