MINIMUM SALARY: $32,991 (Based on 2022-2023 Denton ISD Compensation Plan, 2023-2024 Salary TBD)
DUTY DAYS: 230 days
PRIMARY PURPOSE: To provide assistance and support in the Department of Special Education to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal requirements and to provide support and assistance to the assigned special education supervisor/coordinator.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
- High School diploma or GED
- Associate degree or 48 hours of successful college credit preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Proficient in using personal computer and software (Microsoft Office applications) to develop spreadsheets, databases, and word processing
- Ability to meet established deadlines
- Ability to handle a variety of tasks simultaneously
- Ability to be self-directed, addressing responsibilities without waiting for instruction
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Professional demeanor and positive public relations skills excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- General knowledge of school systems and a willingness to learn the special education process preferred
Experience:
- Minimum of five years successful office or clerical experience required
- Experience working in school districts preferred
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Residential Facilities Responsibilities and duties:
- Maintain confidentiality
- Provide clerical support to assigned special education supervisor/coordinator
- Maintain a calendar of supervisor/coordinator activities
- Assist supervisor/coordinator prepare for meetings/trainings/presentations
- Process and organize travel requests and reimbursement for supervisor/coordinator
- Upon request from supervisor/coordinator, create and maintain databases, spreadsheets, etc. (i.e. database for staff, students, testing materials, compliance, etc.)
- Manage incoming communication from parents, campus staff, and others (example: by answering telephone when calls come in, responding to emails, etc.)
- Provide accurate and detailed information to parents, campus staff, and others
- Manage incoming communication by answering telephone, responding to emails
- Work collaboratively and professionally with special education supervisor/coordinators, directors, other special education staff, and campus/district level personnel
- Serve as first point of contact for incoming calls when supervisor/coordinator is out of the building
- Maintain a professional and collaborative relationship with all colleagues, parents, and district personnel
- Enter supervisor’s minor purchases into budget tracking worksheets
- Compile, maintain and fill reports, records, and other documents required by supervisor
- Participation in and contribute to departmental events
- Follow DISD policies and procedures
- Seek clarification and/or answers when assignments are unclear
- Performs other duties as may be assigned by immediate supervisor or Executive Director of Special Education
