Responsibilities and practice

The Phoenix office of Dentons US LLP is seeking an associate to join our sophisticated Litigation and Dispute Resolution practice. Candidates should have 2-3 years of complex litigation experience, excellent academic credentials, and proven analytic ability. Our associates work collaboratively with our partners and clients and are key members of our team. Expected responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Working on all aspects of commercial litigation from inception through trials and appeals
• Conducting legal research and writing memoranda
• Drafting complex case evaluations and preparing briefs, pleadings, motions, and other litigation documents
• Conducting, propounding and responding to discovery (documents, written discovery, depositions)
• Working with clients, witnesses, experts and other counsel

Based on years of experience, Dentons associates may have a title of Associate, Managing Associate, or Senior Managing Associate. Personal skills/attributes

• Has exceptional writing and analytical skills, and can effectively communicate research into meaningful written work product
• Demonstrates an ability to effectively communicate with colleagues and clients, as well as adversaries and courts
• Is dedicated and goal-oriented, with a strong work ethic
• Possesses superior organizational and time-management skills
• Embraces client service with respect to internal and external clients
• Embraces teamwork and values collaboration

Technical skills

• 2-3 years of complex litigation experience is required
• Previous law firm experience is preferred
• Strong writing and case management skills, level appropriate direct experience handling clients and adversaries, and excellent oral advocacy skills are required
• Savvy with e-discovery, data/document management applications, and related technologies
• Federal District Court or Appellate clerkship experience is a plus

Other requirements

• Must be licensed to practice law in the State of Arizona and be in good standing
• Must include a law school transcript and writing sample with application
