Responsibilities and practice
Dentons US LLP is seeking an associate to join our sophisticated Litigation and Dispute Resolution practice’s insurance coverage team in Kansas City or St. Louis. Candidates should have 2-4 years of litigation experience, with an emphasis on insurance coverage litigation experience, and excellent academic credentials. Our associates work collaboratively with our partners and clients and are key members of our team. Expected responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Conducting legal research and writing memoranda
- Drafting complex case evaluations, drafting pleadings, motions and other litigation documents
- Working on all aspects of litigation from inception through trial and appeal where relevant
- Conducting, propounding and responding to discovery (documents, written discovery, depositions)
- Working with clients, witnesses, experts and other counsel
- Analyzing insurance coverage and extra-contractual disputes, including drafting coverage opinions or other coverage analyses

Based on years of experience, Dentons US LLP associates may have a title of Associate, Managing Associate, or Senior Managing Associate. Position requirements
Personal skills/attributes
- Has exceptional writing and analytical skills, and can effectively communicate research into meaningful written work product
- Is dedicated and goal-oriented, with a strong work ethic
- Possesses superior organizational and time-management skills
- Demonstrates an ability to effectively communicate with colleagues and clients, as well as adversaries and courts
- Has excellent interpersonal, networking and business development skills
- Embraces teamwork and values collaboration
Technical skills
- 2-4 years of litigation experience, with an emphasis on insurance coverage litigation experience
- Strong writing and case management skills, direct experience handling clients and adversaries, and excellent oral advocacy skills
- Federal District Court or Appellate clerkship is a plus
- Experience handling PFAS (polyfluoroalkyl substances) litigation is a plus
Other requirements
- Must be licensed to practice law in the State of Missouri and be in good standing
- Must include a law school transcript and writing sample with application
