Responsibilities and practice
The Chicago office of Dentons US LLP is seeking a Staff Associate with 2-7 years of commercial foreclosure, real estate litigation, and creditors' rights experience and strong academic credentials to join our Restructuring, Insolvency and Bankruptcy practice. The Staff Associate hired for this position will focus primarily on commercial foreclosure and commercial real estate litigation matters for government sponsored enterprises, special servicers, banks, and CLOs. Expected responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to:
- Advising clients with commercial foreclosures, commercial real estate litigation, and creditor rights matters for all types of commercial real estate (hospitality, multifamily, retail, office, industrial, etc.)
- Handling all aspects of the commercial foreclosure process, including reviewing title, drafting notices of default, pre-negotiation letters, foreclosure complaints, receivership motions as well as sale confirmation documentation, summary judgment motions and briefing
- Litigating any disputed foreclosure actions, including appearing in court and handling oral argument and discovery
- Handling commercial real estate receivership, lien priority, and fraudulent transfer litigation in both federal and state court
- Drafting forbearances and loan modifications
- Familiarity with and/or interest in commercial bankruptcy and single asset real estate cases is preferred
Pursuant to Illinois law, the salary range for this position is $100,000 to $180,000, based on experience. Based on years of experience, Dentons US LLP associates may have a title of Associate, Managing Associate, or Senior Managing Associate.
