What are the responsibilities and job description for the Nutrition Intern position at Denver Broncos and Stadium Management Company?
JOB SUMMARY: The season-long Nutrition Intern will assist the Director of Performance Nutrition and Assistant Performance Dietitian with all aspects of team nutrition. This position will start in April 2025 and end in March 2026. This role will gain hands-on experience and is designed for individuals with a goal of working as a dietitian in collegiate and/or professional sports.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist with nutrition efforts of players, coaches, and staff:
- Assist in preparing fuel and hydration products for practice and games, as well as during mealtimes.
- Assist in executing fueling and hydration strategies pre-, intra-, and post-practice
- Prepare recovery shakes and smoothies before and after practices along with assisting nutrition and athletic training staff at practices with hydration and fueling.
- Assist performance dietitians with a variety of nutrition assessment techniques including but not limited to education, hydration, body composition, and bloodwork
- Collaborate with performance staff regarding team’s needs, practices, games, and travel
- Assist with inventory:
- Oversee the daily operations and inventory of nutrition products and beverages in the dining room, maintaining par counts, ordering products, and stocking player fueling areas
- Assist with nutrition logistics of home and away games:
- Assist performance dietitians with preparing for travel and packing the travel trunk and hotel trunk for both all games.
- Travel as requested and assist in home and away game operations at the hotel, team meals, game day nutrition setup, sideline hydration, halftime fueling, and post-game meal logistics.
- Attend and work home games, assisting the dietitians with game day nutrition setup, sideline hydration, halftime fueling, and post-game meal logistics.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in sports nutrition, health science, or dietetics related field
- Ability to work non-traditional hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and have a flexible schedule as needed
- Experience working/volunteering with a collegiate or professional football program.
PREFERRED SKILLS AND ABILITY
- RD or RD eligible and working towards certification
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge of NFL compliance
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Excellent organizational skills and handle multiple projects
In accordance with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the expected salary for this position is $20.00/hour.
